I have always been drawn to food and drink since the start of my working career, with my first job being as a catering assistant in the staff canteen at our local Sainsbury's.

Since then, while gaining a degree in journalism then subsequently working in radio both in the UK and abroad, I have also worked in a wide range of settings in catering and hospitality, both front and back of house. 

Cuisines and establishment types I have gained exposure to while working front of house include French, Italian, English, Asian/Spanish fusion tapas, Mexican, fast food chains, delicatessen, seafood, tearoom and pubs, while back of house as a catering assistant I have worked for a catering agency at race courses, weddings, private functions, canteens and backstage catering for live music and sporting events. I have also worked on bars making cocktails and had wine and barista training.

Gaining this experience led me to set up a festival food stall which I co-owned, travelling up and down the UK to small and medium-sized festivals and events.

I started to take an interest in small business accounting as a result of owning my own business and began training as a bookkeeper while the pandemic prevented festival trading.

However I decided to head back to what I love and get some formal qualifications, while also reviving my love of journalism and travel along the way.
